TINTING
By Depending lenses in the dyes, color tint penetrates deep into the surface of
the plastic material. Whether single, graduated, customized or medically
prescribed tints are required, plastic lenses can be tinted to desired colors.
Tinting properties
CR-39 and high index lenses have the best tinting properties. Polycarbonate
lenses are harder to tint.
Tinting purposes
Usually, Tint is applied for three purposes:
• Fashion & lifestyle: Based on fashion trends, personal preference or hobbies.
Colors can be a mono solid color, gradient or bi-color.
• Sun protection: Tint also reduces glare protection, improved contrast vision
and relaxing fatigued eyes.
• UV Protection: Tints are available as a tool to protect from sun UV.
MIRROR COATING AND TINTS
Mirror coatings reduce transmittance and create a shiny, reflective lens surface. Mirror appear very bright if applied on dark tints. The wearer’s eyes in this case will be invisible.
Mirror coating decreases the amount of light passing through the tinted lens
making it especially useful for conditions of sand, water, snow, and higher
altitudes. The color of the mirror coating is independent of the tint of the
lenses.
Mirrored lenses have the appearance of mirrors, and they are offered in both
prescription and regular lenses.
